| Title: | Mt. Elbert 14,439ft Winter Summit-Colorado’s Tallest Peak Started at 8am on Saturday and it took us about 6 hours to reach the summit which was better than expected with all the snow. Wind was brutal at 26 mph once we got past tree line. Used micro spikes the whole way up and only needed snowshoes for a half mile section. Climbed around 1,000ft every mile and entered the pain cave once we hit 1/3 FALSE summits lol but just like every other adventure it was worth every ounce of effort. Views were okay until you got up to 13,800ft and then it just blows you away once you reach the summit and can see the forever into Sawatch Range |
