Title: I know I haven’t touched too much on grief and how it’s been since losing appa- but I hope that this isn’t too heavy to bring up here. the first few months were pure survival and learning how to even pretend to fill the shoes of my appa. 7 months out and I’m just now allowing myself to feel the weight of his absence. I don’t expect anyone to pause or halt their lives for my grief. but I also didn’t expect to be expected to keep going, growing and moving like nothing happened. I realize some of it is self imposed, but I think a large part of it is the culture we live in that makes you feel that it’s a tragedy to not continually optimize and improve yourself. this season (and truthfully the past few seasons) of my life have been about surviving and I’m okay with that. well, I’m learning to be okay with that. if you’re experiencing grief I not only want to give you a huge hug, but also remind you that you do not have to expedite your grieving process for anyone. we can cry through it together and at a pace that suits us. and if you read this all the way through, I love you dearly.
